Alia has extensive multi-disciplinary experience in the fashion + textile industry as a designer, maker, educator and critical thinker. She runs her own studio practice as a designer-artist and creative director on initiated projects and commissions, as well as collaborator with other creatives, organisations, brands and individuals. Working as a sessional academic, honing a strong research focus on sustainability in the design industry, Alia integrates core ethical frameworks into pedagogy and practice across a range of design disciplines.

Alia completed a Bachelor of Design at UNSW Art & Design (2008), a Master of Fashion + Textiles at RMIT University (2013), and is currently undertaking a Master of Philosophy (practice) at UNSW Art & Design (2019).
